I am an assistant professor (TT) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at York University, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies (LA&PS). Before joining York U, I held an assistant professor position at Kent Business School (UK) and worked as an SSHRC postdoctoral fellow at the University of Ottawa and Statistics Canada. I received my PhD in Management from Lancaster University Management School (UK).
My research spans various subjects. My principal interest is in understanding how small firms search and secure external finance and how finance-related decisions affect the performance of businesses. Additionally, I employ the theoretical framework of financial literacy in analyzing entrepreneur’s financial decisions. But more broadly, I am concerned with the mechanisms through which entrepreneurship could lead to more social inclusion or exacerbate inequality. I am interested to understand the interaction of entrepreneurship and the well-being of different groups of society.
I am a Fellow of UK Advance HE, an adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa, a deemed employee of Statistics Canada, an accredited researcher of the UK Office of National Statistics. I have received postgraduate certificates in Teaching in Higher Education and University Teaching from the University of Kent and the University of Ottawa. Prior to resuming my graduate studies at the PhD level, I received a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and an M.Sc. in Management and IT and worked as an investment and system analyst.
